Area chamber hosts inaugural Economic Development Summit

The South Sound Chambers of Commerce Legislative Coalition (SSCCLC) hosts its first Economic Development Summit on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Emerald Downs, 2300 Emerald Downs Drive, Auburn.

State legislators, city and county council members and many local business leaders will attend the summit to hear expert panels on such topics as transportation, trade-related jobs, taxation and barriers to efficient land use.

"We want our elected officials and our businesses to take part in shaping Washington's economic future and in developing transportation solutions," said Terry Davis, chairman for the SSCCLC.

About the SSCCLC

The South Sound Chambers of Commerce Legislative Coalition is an advocacy coalition formed to advocate for business and business-related policies impacting the South Sound region before the Legislature, statewide elected officials such as the governor, and other departments, agencies, boards and commissions. Member Chambers include: Auburn Area (Auburn, Algona and Pacific), Covington, Federal Way, Fife/Milton/Edgewood, Kent, Puyallup/ Sumner, Renton and Southwest King County Chambers of Commerce (Tukwila, Burien and Des Moines). Collectively, they represent approximately 3,262 businesses employing more than 185,977 workers with more than $100 billion in revenue in the South King County and North Pierce County region.
