Jacksons food stores join fight against domestic violence | Briefs
Jacksons Food Stores and the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence have launched the "Give the Gift of Peace" campaign, a holiday season drive that runs through Dec. 25 to raise funds for the prevention of domestic violence and dating violence through community awareness.
At the end of the campaign, Jacksons Chief Executive Officer John Jackson will match Jacksons Food Stores customers' contributions dollar for dollar up to $75,000 with all the proceeds going to the coalition.
Since 2003, customers have contributed to the campaign by purchasing a paper dove for one dollar at Jacksons Food Stores. In the 2011 campaign, Washington Jacksons Food Stores customers contributed over $29,000, resulting in more than $58,000 in donations, including Jacksons dollar for dollar match contribution.
The Washington campaign began in 2009, and donations have resulted in more than $94,000 over the three years.
The Rotary Club of Auburn raised $25,500 from its annual Earl Averill Invitational Golf Tournament that was held in September at the Washington National Golf Club. The funds will be used for children's charities, both local and national.
