The Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce is getting a new home.

According to Nancy Wyatt, chamber president and CEO, the organization is in the process of moving to a new office at 25 Second St. NW, four blocks from the chamber's present location.

The chamber is expected to begin the move June 16.

"We are excited for our new location," Wyatt wrote in her online message from the chamber. "It has a great layout, and we will be able to continue the valuable service as the leading regional chamber of commerce, visitor information center/tourism office that you have come to expect."

Wyatt said the current building, 108 S. Division St., is wearing, leaking and scheduled to be torn down.

"Back in April of 2006, when I first took this position, I was told, 'Someday, the building we are in will be torn down.' Well, eight years later, that day has come," Wyatt said. "Last week we received our 30-day notice. An emergency meeting of the board was held last Friday, and we went looking for a new home."

Wyatt said the chamber will continue to serve the public during the change. The chamber can be reached at 253-833-0700, but the best way to reach the chamber, Wyatt said, is email at auburncc@auburnareawa.org.
