Big Daddy's Drive In wants to bring back the shiny chrome and vintage vroom of yesteryear with classic car shows.

The long-established restaurant along Auburn Way South will hold the first of what organizers hope will be many Friday night car shows on June 5. The car show will run 6 to 10 p.m.

"It used to be a big thing in Auburn. It used to be the thing to do," said Krista Whitish, who worked at the drive-in regularly as a teenager and helped out at frequent nostalgic car shows.

She is now leading the push for a return of the popular summer gathering.

"It's kind of like a blast from the past," she said. "A lot of people have been asking about it."

Whitish welcomes car clubs and individual enthusiasts to join the show.

For those interested in the show, call Whitish at 253-334-0897.
