A familiar face has found a new place.
The Gallop family, which has been a part of Doors West for 30 years, has moved its business closer to home.
The company – which specializes in garage, entry and interior doors for commercial and residential clients – recently moved its home office and showroom from Kent, just off Central Avenue, to Auburn at 20th Street Northwest, just off West Valley Highway North.
"There's a lot of reasons to be in Auburn," said Robin Gallop, who co-owns the business with her husband, Mark. "It was hard for people to find us in Kent … and we wanted to reduce our overhead. Auburn was looking for businesses, and we felt it was a good fit for us here."
The new location will bring improved accessibility and delivery for staff and customers. Doors West provides service throughout the Puget Sound area, including but not limited to Tacoma, Seattle and Everett.
In October 2007, the Gallops bought Doors West from longtime owner Earl Williams, who operated the business for close to 30 years. Williams' father founded Stanley Door, of which Doors West became a division.
Mark Gallop has been with Doors West since its inception, beginning as a lead installation technician in 1978. Today, he helps operate the business with Robin. Their son, Travis Lambert, is the manager.
"Auburn is a tight community," Robin Gallop said. "People are important here, and we are customer-service oriented."
