City offers free Christmas tree recycling

Residential and multifamily residents who are serviced by Waste Management or Republic Services and live within the city limits of Auburn can recycle their live Christmas tree and organic wreath for no additional cost.

If you live outside of the Auburn city limits (Auburn in unincorporated King County), contact your garbage and recycling hauler for Christmas tree recycling information.

Collection dates

Waste Management customers

• Single-family, duplex and mobile home parks residents: Collection will be the week of Jan. 9-13 on your garbage collection day. Place your tree at the curbside or alley by 6 a.m.

• Multifamily residents: Collection will be the week of Jan. 9-13. Property owner or site manager must call Waste Management, 800-592-9995, to schedule a pickup day and site.

Republic Services customers

• Single-family and duplex residents: Collection will be the week of Jan. 9-13, on your garbage collection day. Place your tree at the curbside by 6:00 a.m.

• Multifamily residents: Collection will be the week of Jan. 9-13. Property owner or site manager must call Republic Services, 206-682-9735, to schedule a pickup day and site.

Guidelines

• Tree must be cut into 3-foot lengths or smaller.

• Tree trunks should be no wider than 4-inches in diameter and weigh no more than 65 pounds each piece.

• Remove all garland, tinsel and ornaments.

• No flocked trees, artificial trees or other debris will be accepted.

• Compostables service not required.

• Limit one tree and wreath per household.
