Kent CrossFit plans Officer Moreno fundraiser

Workout event set for Saturday

Kent Fire Fighters Local 1747 and Kent CrossFit will host an Officer Diego Moreno Memorial Hero Workout of the Day fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 11.

All are invited to participate in the free workout between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Kent CrossFit, 7405 S. 212th St. There is no minimum fitness level requirement. Donations may be made during the event or to any U.S. Bank branch office for his family under the Diego Moreno Memorial Fund.

Moreno, 35, of Auburn, is survived by his wife and two young children. He died in the line of duty July 22 when struck by a fellow Kent Police officer during a pursuit. He was an eight-year veteran on the force. Organizers of the workout include International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 1747, Kent Firefighters Foundation, IAFF Local 2595, Kent CrossFit and the Kent Police Department.
