ABOUT THE OBSERVANCE

The National Veterans Day Committee and the US Department of Defense have once again selected the City of Auburn as one of the few regional sites for Veterans Day Observance in 2010. The mile-long parade includes military marching units and vehicles, veteran units, marching bands, honor guards, drill teams, community and scouting groups, as well as floats, antique cars, horses, community groups and more. It will proceed west on Main Street from E Street SE to A Street NW.

In 2007, the City of Auburn was honored with two awards through the Washington Festivals & Events Association for the 41st annual Veterans Day Parade and Observance. It was followed up in 2008 and 2009 with awards for Best Promotional Campaign for the annual November event.

Other events related to the Veterans Day celebration in Auburn include a Remembrance Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, a Static Display & Exhibit Showcase, a breakfast and luncheon to honor veterans, the state’s largest marching band competition and much more.
