The Auburn School District Board of Directors presented the Gold Star Volunteer Award to Costco Corporation in recognition of its support to the district during a Monday ceremony.

For more than a decade, Costco has donated backpacks and back-to-school supplies to Auburn schools through Communities in Schools Auburn.

Each year 500 students receive new backpacks and school supplies.

"The backpacks and supplies really help out our families who cannot afford school supplies and ensure all of our students are ready for school," said Ryan Foster, Lakeland Hills Elementary School principal.
