Volunteers in Pacific plan to Make a Difference on Saturday
October 18, 2011 · Updated 2:46 PM
Residents, civic and community members will converge Saturday – Make a Difference Day – to help spruce up the grounds around Pacific City Hall and the senior and rec centers.
Volunteers include members of the Pacific Park Board, Pacific Partnerships, White River Valley Lions and Friends of the Lower White River.
The cleanup party is from 10 a.m. and noon. Refreshments will be served from noon to 1 p.m.
The public is invited to pitch in. Please bring garden tools, wheelbarrows, and wear boots and gloves.
Donations, such as bark, are welcome.
Budget cuts have left less money in the general fund for groundskeeping around city properties, according to Jeanne Fancher of FLWR.
"Shabby grounds practically shouts 'we don't care,' but we do care," Fancher said.
Email Glenda at collectdetect@comcast.net to help with refreshments.
For more than 20 years, USA Weekend Magazine and HandsOn Network have joined together to sponsor Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service.
