Auburn's Coastal Farm & Ranch offers scholarships
May 10, 2012 · 1:45 PM
Four Auburn high school students will receive college scholarships from Coastal Farm & Ranch. Local high school seniors are encouraged to review the scholarship criteria and return an application by the June 1 deadline.
"During these challenging times, we want to help deserving students continue their education," according to Coastal owner Buzz Wheeler. "We are excited about being part of the Auburn community and want to support the charities, civic groups and hard working people of this great area."
The four $500 scholarships will be awarded June 16-27 during graduation ceremonies at West Auburn High School, Auburn Mountainview High School, Auburn Riverside High School and Auburn High School. The winning students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and plan on studying veterinary medicine, agricultural studies or related fields. Other criteria include leadership, activities and community involvement.
"There is also a brief essay as part of the scholarship application," Wheeler said. "We're asking these bright high school seniors to let us know how Coastal can best serve the Auburn community in 250 words or less. We can't wait to read their ideas and start implementing them."
The two-page scholarship application and all criteria can be obtained by emailing Joe Clemens at joec@coastalfarm.com. Coastal's new store at the SuperMall is scheduled to open at the end of May with an official grand opening in early June.
