Auburn Valley YMCA organizes pillowcase drive to help hospital

The Auburn Valley YMCA is collecting fun pillowcases for children undergoing treatment at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.

Donors can buy a pillowcase from the store or use their imagination to sew, embroider, or decorate one. Nine-hundred children per month pick out their own pillowcase and it becomes a comfort item whether they are in chemotherapy, having surgery, exams or tests.

Bringing your pillowcase to the Auburn Valley YMCA by April 15. The address is 1620 Perimeter Road SW.

The Happy Hands Club will be collecting pillowcases and delivering them to Mary Bridge. The goal is to collect 1,000.

Garage sale is March 9

The Y is hosting its first garage sale to support programming for children in need from the greater Auburn community. The sale runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 9.

Come browse the thousands of items donated, including nine quality used regulation pool tables, furniture and household items.

Clothes are offered at $1 to $5.

Of note, donations will be accepted through March 6. Furniture may be dropped off on the morning of the event.
