Ed Frey, of Auburn, recently got a new friend.

Frey, a Navy veteran, recently lost his small dog of 17 years because of old age. Auburn VFW Post 1741 took it upon itself to find and fund another dog, Ricky, a 1-year-old Chihuahua from the Auburn Valley Humane Society.

Frey served aboard the carrier USS Essex (1956-1960).
