Local Boy Scouts will join homeowners and Urban Tree Board members to plant 40 trees Saturday along 2nd Street Southeast and K Street Southeast.

These trees, purchased with grant money, will be planted on parking strips in front of homes whose owners have approved the procedure. Most of the trees will be nurtured through the first few years by the homeowner, while others will be cared for by Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation Department personnel.

Mike Miller, Parks maintenance manager, and Kirk Hadley, Parks horticulturist, are coordinating the project.

In addition, a local nursery is donating 80 trees to be planted at Auburn parks.
