Faced with more requests and fewer donations, the Auburn Food Bank is holding its own during these difficult days.

“We’ve been thin some days, but we are managing as best we can,” said Debbie Christian, food bank executive director.

The food bank will receive a boost this month with the Auburn School District’s annual drive (Feb. 22-March 5), which generated 50,000 pounds of food and $18,000 in donations last year. The food bank encourages families to make donations at their nearby schools.

The Auburn Food Bank, which has served the community since 1930, is located at 930 18th Place NE. It is open 9 a.m.-1:15 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 9 a.m.-1:15 p.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month.
