Approximately 50 volunteers collected more than 4,200 pounds of wood, garbage, tires and other debris from Pacific’s trails, parks and wetland areas during the third annual Pacific Parks Pickup, Trash Toss and Weed Wack last Saturday.

A record load was 1,521 pounds was brought in by the Miss Pacific Princess team. Boy Scout Troop 540 collected 996 pounds.

Volunteers shattered last year’s record of 1,845 pounds of trash collected from city parks.

“What’s amazing is this was all done in a little more than two hours time,” said Mayor Richard Hildreth.

The event coincided with the city celebrating Earth Day. Pacific Partnerships and Friends of the Lower White River coordinated the event.
