Global Heat to ignite downtown Soundbites concert series; performance Friday

The City of Auburn and Auburn Regional Medical Center present a new concert series, Soundbites.
The new series kicks off on Fridays in July, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the City Hall Plaza.
Global Heat, winner of the 2011 Jammin' Challenge, opens the series July 6. Global Heat plays the best of hip hop, cool jazz, R&B and world beat and specialize in entertaining break dancing.
"We are thankful that the Auburn Regional Medical Center has come forward to support this outstanding new entertainment series for our citizens," said Daryl Faber, Parks, Arts & Recreation director.
"Outdoor concerts are always a popular entertainment option and we enjoy providing them to our community," Faber said. "It gives Auburn residents the opportunity to meet their friends and neighbors for an unforgettable experience. This particular series will be a wonderful way to engage the working community."
The Auburn Downtown Association also is supporting the concert series.

• July 6 – Global Heat (Cool Jazz, R&B & world beat)
• July 13 – Hook Me Up (contemporary jazz)
• July 20 – Wally and the Beavs ('50s and '60s rock & roll)
• July 27 – BB and the Riptides (surf party classics)
Girl Dog, Inc. will be on-site selling hotdogs at Plaza Park, and the following downtown restaurants are offering a Friday "Soundbites Lunch Special" with a "to-go" option so individuals can catch the outdoor entertainment: OddFellas Pub & Eatery, 102 W. Main St.; The DownEast Baking Co., 419 E Main St.; The Rainbow Café, 112 E. Main St.; The Station Bistro, 110 2nd ST SW, No. 125; and Zola's Café, 402 E. Main St.
