Stand-Up Comedy Competition returns the Auburn Ave on Nov. 2, 9
November 2, 2012 · Updated 10:43 AM
The 33rd annual Seattle International Stand-Up Comedy Competition returns to the Auburn Avenue Theater for two nights of the preliminary rounds, Nov. 2 and 9.
More than 30 thirty comedians, out of hundreds who apply, perform in the judged contest at comedy clubs, bars, restaurants, casinos and theaters throughout Seattle and the Pacific Northwest during November.
Contestants perform three-to-seven-minute sets in one of two preliminary weeks, consisting of six shows in six venues over six nights. The top five from each preliminary week will meet in the semifinals, which requires them to perform 8-12-minute sets for another six shows.
The top five from the semifinals move on to the finals, where they will perform 15-20-minute sets in five more shows.
Past winners have included Sean Kent, Tommy Savitt, Marcus, Damonde Tschritter and Auggie Smith, several of whom have gone on to perform as headliners with the Ave's Monthly Comedy Series.
