Auburn Symphony Orchestra tickets now available
Auburn Symphony Orchestra season and single tickets are now available.
ASO's 17th season begins in September with a special concert of favorite composers and music from ballet, movies, opera and the classical music repertoire. Titled Music Especially for You!, the program includes fan favorites such as Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries", Handel's "Water Music" and Bernstein's "West Side Story Suite", to name but a few.
In October, ASO brings The Triumph of Tchaikovsky, featuring what many consider his best, "Symphony No. 4", a work that pushes the boundaries of defiance, hope, resignation and triumph. Also featured are Beethoven's "Coriolan Overture" and his "Piano Concerto No. 4" with soloist Mark Salman, who has been hailed as a heroic virtuoso" and "a dazzling performer."
Antonin Dvorak's ambitious "Symphony No. 7" is considered by many as equal in stature to his "New World" Symphony. February's Musical Gems also includes ASO's esteemed principal clarinetist, Jennifer Nelson, performing Carl Maria von Weber's "Clarinet Concerto No. 2", concluding with one of the most glittery, virtuosic passages in the clarinet repertoire.
ASO ends its with Haydn's "Symphony No. 45" The Farewell, aptly selected as the orchestra says "so long for now" to the Performing Arts Center as it begins its year of renovation. The program also includes Shostakovich's "Symphony No. 9", his lightest, most playful and accessible symphony and Max Bruch's beautiful "Kol Nidrei", featuring ASO's principal cello Brian Wharton.
Founded in 1996, the fully professional orchestra has more than 60 musicians led by Stewart Kershaw, internationally renowned conductor and former music director for 25 years of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra.
