America first? Of course

As he began to recite his oath of office, it also began to drizzle. Then as soon as he uttered, “So help me God,” the rain stopped. No doubt about it, that drizzle was a benediction from God.

When that was over, President Donald Trump faced the American people to deliver his inauguration speech as the 45th president of our country.

It was an awesome speech. And to me, the most telling moment of his speech was when he said that for ”too many of our citizens, a different reality exists.”

He then pointed out the extreme “poverty” in America’s inner cities; the unemployment and “rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones” across the landscape of our nation; the miseducation of our “beautiful” students; and the “crime and the gangs and the drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential.”

“This American carnage stops right here … and right now.”

Just like what he promised during his campaign, he said, “We will bring back our jobs. We will bring back our borders. We will bring back our wealth. We will bring back our dreams.”

And like the straight-talker that he is, Donald Trump concluded, “So, to all Americans, in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, and from ocean to ocean, hear these words:

“You will never be ignored again. Your voice, your hopes and your dreams will define our American destiny. …”

America first? Yes, of course.
