Backus is proven leader as mayor

I support Nancy Backus for mayor of Auburn for several reasons. It was my honor to serve on the City Council for two terms with then-council member Backus.

Whether at committee meetings, council meetings, or study sessions Nancy exhibited knowledge, preparation and insight. While we did not always agree I could rely on Nancy’s opinion to help examine any issue.

As adept as she is at planning and implementing strategies and programs, she was equally committed to keeping her finger on the pulse of the community. She took every opportunity to reach out and listen to the residents she served. Nancy always looked into the problem and returned with an answer and/or explanation. She has continued this commitment as mayor.

An important part of serving our community is representing us at the larger county, state and federal level. Mayor Backus’ participation in these forums has resulted in funding for many important projects and recognition of Auburn as a key player in designing the future of our region.

She is not just a smart woman but a wise woman. She has a heart for our beautiful valley and especially the citizens of Auburn. She has lived, worked and raised her family in this city. There are challenges ahead that need realistic and intelligent solutions and Mayor Backus has proven her ability to do just that.
