City shines with latest festival

I worked for the City of Auburn for many years, leaving recently to pursue other avenues.

I worked for the City of Auburn for many years, leaving recently to pursue other avenues.

This past weekend, I returned to the City for its new AugustFest event, which was held at the lovely Les Gove Park.

I started my return by touring the new Community Center facility. I was blown away at what a wonderful building it is, and excited at what a difference it will make for the youth in the Auburn area.

Not a day goes by that I do not miss the dedicated, intelligent and passionate employees of the City of Auburn, from the always impressive Parks staff to the continued dedication of the Auburn Police Department.

I live in the City of Seattle, and while it has its charms, it has nothing on Auburn. I had watched Auburn grow for almost a decade while I worked there. To see it now and visualize where it is headed is truly incredible.

You can truly achieve greatness if you have belief and support from your leaders. These changes and partnerships with local businesses are in large part the work of dedicated staff, council and a mayor with vision.

Nancy, no words can explain what you have done with the City so far. I only hope that everyone knows how hard you work and how much you love the City and the people who work and live there.
