Congressional Republicans haven’t been receiving a very warm welcome from their constituents lately. It seems that this has our Congressman, Dave Reichert, running scared. And with good reason.

Congressman Reichert’s district, Washington’s 8th, has voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in the last two elections. Meanwhile, the Republican-controlled Congress is threatening to dismantle our healthcare system while posing no alternative means to provide insurance to the millions currently covered under the Affordable Care Act—my two sons and I included.

Rather than meeting with his constituents and listening to our concerns, as is the purpose of Congress’ February break, Congressman Reichert has elected to hold a Facebook forum where questions are chosen beforehand and he need not look any of us in the eye.

Congressman Reichert can choose not to answer to his constituents now. But Nov. 6, 2018, will be a different story.
