Auburn High grad exhibits artwork at CWU Ellensburg

‘I want my work to reveal the fact that we are all different’

Eliane Medina, a 2012 Auburn High School graduate, presents her senior art exhibition, Bodies of Work, Nov. 28-Dec. 9 in Gallery 231 at Central Washington University’s Randall Hall, 400 E. University Way, Ellensburg.

The opening reception is from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28. The Exhibition is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided at the opening. The gallery will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Medina has been working to create art pieces in ceramics, oil and watercolor painting, and black and white film photography over the past year to bring to light the imperfections of humans.

Perfectly curated moments we see of other people’s lives are giving a false sense of reality, she said. Medina wants to use her art to celebrate the private, vulnerable moments everyone experiences daily.

“I want my work to reveal the fact that we are all different, we are all odd, and in those ways we are all very much the same,” said Medina, who graduates in December with her bachelor of fine arts degree.
