Meet the new artist in residence at Mary Olson Farm

Open studio day is Saturday, July 27

The city of Auburn and Mary Olson Farm welcome Elise Koncsek, the historic farm’s 2019 artist in residence.

The public is invited to meet Koncsek and see her in action at an open studio day – Saturday, July 27, from noon to 5 p.m. – at the farm, 28728 Green River Road, Auburn. Learn about her process and inspiration and participate in the community art project, What if.

Koncsek specializes in interactive and immersive art. She uses rich colors, crisp details and text liberally on wood, acrylic and fiber.

“I want my art to pack a punch, both visually and emotionally, because many of my most influential memories are of experiences, which both awed me visually and challenged me psychologically,” Koncsek said. “Those moments stay with me and continue to direct my day to day choices. Following the lead of my artistic and revolutionary heroes, I want to use my growing skills as an artist to make a positive impact and share forward the feeling of wonder and possibility I have gained from others.”

The farm is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m., from June 22 through Aug. 25.
