Parks, Arts and Rec offers winter trip activity series for families

The Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation Department presents Families on the Move: 2017 Winter Series Events.

The lineup:

• Saturday, Jan. 21 | 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sledding @ Paradise Snowplay Area

Nothing says family fun like sledding in a winter wonderland! Be sure to bundle up in snow appropriate clothing! To participate, you must bring your own sled (no hard toboggans or runner sleds permitted). Transportation to Mount Rainier and hot cocoa will be provided.

• Saturday, Feb. 4 | 6-9 p.m.

Auburn Chopped!: Dessert Edition

Auburn Community & Events Center, 910 Ninth St. SE

Based on Food Network cooking competition, “Chopped!”, families of two-plus will prepare creative desserts using all of the mystery ingredients provided. Judges will determine the winner of the competition based on creativity and presentation. The event will include a family dessert following the competition.

• Saturday, March 18 | 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Winter Hike @ Coal Creek Falls

Get outside this winter with this family friendly hike to Coal Creek Falls. Participants will meet at the Auburn Community & Events Center. Be sure to pack a water bottle, sack lunch and weather appropriate attire. Transportation to Coal Creek Falls and light snacks will be provided.

Cost is $5 per participant (age 6 and older). Children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Pre-registration required. Limited space available.
