Jason Call will be putting on a fireside at 7 p.m. Sunday at the LDS Church located at 1820 F St. SE, Auburn.

Call was formerly one of the founding member of the popular local band, Daphne Loves Derby.

Two years ago, Call decided to leave the band to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since that decision, Call has spent the past two years living in Peru, sharing his beliefs and musical talent with thousands of people.

At times, it was very challenging since Call had to learn a whole new language and culture. Over time as he grew to love the people, he learned to speak and sing in Spanish fluently, and was able to incorporate his love of music into his mission while performing in concert.

Call came to realize the power that uplifting music can have. Sometimes the concerts were held way up in the mountains or in small humble villages. Even in these remote locations, several hundred people usually attended.

On Sunday, Call will share the story of how he decided to leave his earlier successful band, and what he has learned along his journey. At the fairly young age of 22, Jason has traveled to every state in the U.S. except Alaska and Hawaii. But since returning has been invited to be part of a series of performing artist this fall on the campus of Brigham Young University-Hawaii. He also has been able to share his musical talents in Japan, Canada, and now Peru.

The fireside has been set up from a request by the youth in the Auburn area and others are invited to attend.

Since coming home from Peru, Call has begun recording some new music along with helping other up and coming bands with producing and mixing. He already has spent time working in California, and will be heading to Texas next month to continue producing for other bands, as well as doing some touring this summer.
