A 34-year-old Auburn man died when his motorcycle collided with a car Tuesday, King County Sheriffs reported.

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. at South 272nd and 46th Avenue South in unincorporated King County, south of Kent.

A 37-year-old woman from Louisiana, who was driving a 2002 Mercedes 330 SUV, was stopped on South 272nd headed eastbound, waiting to turn northbound onto 46th Avenue South. She thought she saw a break in the traffic and turned into the path of the on-coming motorcycle, a 2006 Honda CBR600, the Sheriff's Office reported.

The motorcycle driver died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Office major accident unit are investigating. At this point they do not believe speed, alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
