Fire heavily damaged a vacant Auburn home located at 29926 118th Ave. SE on Wednesday afternoon.

A neighbor called 911 at 2:04 p.m. after seeing flames and smoke coming from the home. Fortunately, Valley Regional Fire Authority firefighters found no one in the home. There were no injuries sustained by firefighters.

VRFA Firefighters could see a smoke column several miles away from the approximately 1,800-square-foot home and upon arrival, found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof and windows. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly, though most of the single-story home was destroyed. A detached garage was saved from fire damage.

The fire is currently under investigation.
