VRFA firefighters contain Algona house fire; no one hurt

Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority were dispatched to a house fire at 516 Algona Blvd. N., in Algona, on Monday afternoon. The home, a single-story wood frame, was unoccupied.

A passerby called 911 at 4:25 p.m, after witnessing smoke coming from the roof and sides of the home. When firefighters arrived at the home six minutes later, they found flames coming from the first floor and attic area of the structure.

The fire was extinguished and the home searched for possible occupants, none were located.

Crews from four VRFA fire engines, one aid car and one ladder truck are currently on scene. King County Medic One provided rehabilitation services for firefighters.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Damage to the home is extensive.
