Dairy Queen of Pacific hosts benefit today for 'Y' campaign

Dairy Queen of Pacific is raising much-needed dollars for kids and families who desperately need the services the "Y" provides but who cannot afford the full cost.

Tracey Apata's franchise on 425 Ellingson Road is supporting the cause with a three-hour fundraiser – from 5-8 p.m. today – for the Y (formerly YMCA) Partners with Youth Campaign.

Proceeds from the sale of food and ice cream favorites during that period will benefit the program.

"I am proud to be working, along with a few Pacific citizens and business owners to partner with the Auburn Valley Y in their annual Partners with Youth Campaign," said Pacific Mayor Richard Hildreth. "This program provides services to deserving families in our community, including access to all 'Y' programs.

These families, many of them the working poor and families recently unemployed because of the recession, might otherwise fall through the cracks. The 'Y' believes, like I do, that for our community to be strong, everyone deserves the right to achieve their potential."
