Auburn man sentenced to 2 years in prison for child porn possession
Marvin Moore, possessed more than 40,000 images of child pornography, federal prosecutors said.
That meant, federal prosecutors said, the 47-year-old Auburn man had one of the largest local collections of child porn ever uncovered, including more than 4,400 videos, images of prepubescent minors and children under 12, images depicting bestiality, young children in bondage, and sadistic and masochistic conduct.
According to Seattle PI.com, Federal District Court Judge James Robart recently sentenced Moore to two years in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release. In November, the Auburn man had pleaded guilty to one count of child porn possession.
"The totals of more than 40,000 images and more than 4,000 videos are among the highest, if not the highest, numbers in any recent possession prosecution in the Western District of Washington," prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memo. "He possessed a very high number of images of young children being subjected to severe, degrading and traumatic acts of sexual exploitation."
Prosecutors had requested a sentence of three years, out of a sentencing range of more than four years to nearly six years.
Federal agents arrested Moore in 2006 after finding his credit card information in an investigation of a New Jersey child-porn site.
An initial search of his computer disclosed the following web browser search strings: "erase computer evidence" and "erase evidence apple computer."
Prosecutors said Moore admitted to having bought child porn since 2000. In his guilty plea, he admitted to possessing more than 10,000 images and more than 1,000 videos.
