The search for the Federal Way serial groper continues, with detectives tracking down leads on the so far elusive sexual attacker. The Federal Way Police Department believes the suspect may have moved into the valley due to a recent incident in Auburn.
In an email to The Mirror, police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock indicated the two police departments are working together.
"According to Detective (Jeff) VanderVeer, the department has received several promising tips, but unfortunately it has not led to a suspect identification. The Auburn Police Department had a similar incident and the two agencies are sharing information. The investigation is ongoing," she wrote.
The most recent reported incident in Federal Way involving the serial groper was May 11. According to police, the attacker “approaches his victims from behind and gropes their buttocks or pelvic area.”
Another recent high-profile case in Federal Way, in which $500,000 in cash, along with welfare identification cards, drugs and high end electronics were seized, is still under investigation as well, Schrock said.
