A traffic accident in Eastern Washington on Saturday night has claimed the life of an Auburn man.

According to the Washington State Patrol, just before 7 p.m. Saturday night, the 28-year-old man was northbound on his 2005 Suzuki GS500F on Highway 97 south of the top of Blewett Pass when a Toyota Camry crossed the center line in the middle of a curve and struck him.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old Redmond man, was not hurt.

No citations or charges have yet been determined, as investigators sift the evidence to determine why the Toyota crossed the center line and hit the motorcycle.

The WSP has not yet released the name of the motorcyclist, pending notification of his family.
