VRFA firefighters battle residential duplex fire; 2 treated for injuries

Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded early Friday morning to a residential duplex fire in the 3000 block of M Place Southeast in Auburn.

Crews aggressively knocked down and extinguished the fire, which was reported at 2:28 a.m. The home suffered significant damage. The occupants of the adjacent unit were able to safely exit the structure.

Two patients were treated for injuries and transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further treatment. There were no injuries to firefighters.

Arriving units found fire extending from the first to the second floor, jeopardizing the adjacent unit. An aggressive fire attack was used to protect the exposure.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
