New SR 18/I-5 flyover ramp opens Monday in Federal Way

The best way to avoid stop-and-go traffic is simply to fly over it.

That's exactly what traffic will do when two new ramps open at the State Route 18 and Interstate 5 interchange in Federal Way.

The first new flyover ramp opens Monday and will directly connect westbound SR 18 to southbound I-5. And then one week later, on July 23, another new flyover ramp will open, directly connecting eastbound SR 18 to northbound I-5.

The ramps are part of a major $112 million interchange project that has been on the rise for months, leading drivers to contact the Washington State Department of Transportation with remarks about the speed of bridge construction.

WSDOT and Mowat Construction invite the media to join local leaders and truckers as we cut the ribbon on the new ramps. Watch as the first cars and trucks take the new flyover ramp.
