Firefighters contain tire fire in Pacific

Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to a report of a large black column of smoke coming from an area near the 1000 block of Valentine Avenue Southeast in Pacific just before 1 p.m. today.

First-arriving firefighters found a pile of tires burning behind Evergreen Concrete Cutting. After extinguishing the fire, crews remained on location to check for hot spots.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
