A man in his 20’s escaped from a house fire Wednesday afternoon in the 300 block of Hi Crest Drive in Auburn. He was able to evacuate the dogs that were in the home safely and call 911.

Fire and smoke caused a significant amount of damage to the kitchen area, outside deck and rear portion of the home.

Valley Regional Fire Authority Firefighters, along with a unit from South King Fire and Rescue, were dispatched at 1:36 p.m. and found flames and smoke coming from the rear of the approximately 4,500-square-foot, three-story home. Crews extinguished the fire in under an hour with no injuries to occupants or firefighters.

Fire investigators currently are working to determine the cause of the fire and estimated damage.
