Southcenter Parkway extension opens, offers new access to mall
November 21, 2012 · 11:50 AM
The City of Tukwila on Wednesday opened Southcenter Parkway from South 180th Street to South 200th Street, following resolution of right of way issues.
Shoppers and commuters driving northbound on I-5 can now use the Orillia Road freeway exit to get to Tukwila’s Southcenter District.
The extended parkway offers an alternative to West Valley Highway as an entry point to the Southcenter area.
“We are very pleased to be able to open this new five-lane arterial road, which will provide much-needed access to Tukwila’s Southcenter District and Westfield Southcenter Mall,” said Mayor Jim Haggerton. “In addition, this new road opens up development for hundreds of acres of land that will help us meet our goals by attracting thousands of new jobs.”
A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in early December and the public will be invited. More details are available on the City Tukwila website.
