Four Auburn elementaries named Schools of Distinction

Alpac, Gildo Rey, Lake View and Pioneer elementaries have been named 2012 School of Distinction Award winners.

The Center for Educational Effectiveness, the Association of Educational Service Districts, the Association of Washington School Principals, Phi Delta Kappa-Washington Chapter, Washington Association of School Administrators, Washington State ASCD and Washington State School Directors' Association awarded the Auburn School District's foursome.

The award recognizes the top 5-percent highest improving schools in the state of Washington for increased reading and mathematics achievement over the past five years. This represents the sixth annual School of Distinction award recognition in Washington State.

The schools will be recognized at a Jan. 24 ceremony at Puget Sound ESD in Renton
