Troop 340s Gates, Mallory to earn Eagle Scout honors
June 2, 2008 · Updated 3:52 PM
Charles Gates and Tyler Mallory will receive Eagle Scout honors, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program. Their Eagle court of honor is planned for June 12.
Gates, son of Jim and Tammy Gates, and Mallory, son of Scott and Sandy Mallory, represent Troop 340 of the Foothills District, Chief Seattle Council. Both are senior at Auburn Mountainview High School, and both plan to attend BYU-Idaho after graduation.
Gates worked with the Auburn School Districts child nutrition department to identify areas of need and to promote the summer feeding program. Approximately 10,000 more meals were served during the program in 2007 than in the previous year, in part, due to Gates efforts.
Mallory, meanwhile, coordinated the rebuilding of a large part of the long split-rail fence that borders Isaac Evans park along Green River Road. He also repainted several entrance signs on site in an effort to restore Auburns parks that suffer from graffiti.
