December 14, 2012 · 3:01 PM
Sen. Joe Fain (R-Auburn) and House Majority Leader Rep. Pat Sullivan (D-Covington)discussed their higher education budget issues for the 2013 legislative session with local community college presidents at the recent December "Good Eggs" breakfast.
King County Councilman Pete von Reichbauer hosted the event.
"Both Sen. Fain and Rep. Sullivan understand the problems we face here in South King County," von Reichbauer said. "These are two influential leaders who represent us in Olympia. I'm encouraged by their commitment to our making government accountable and efficient while they embark on the 2013 legislative design."
Sullivan expressed his commitment to reforming the budget and making sure K-12 and higher education are being fully funded.
Fain discussed the newly-announced Majority Coalition Caucus, a bipartisan Senate caucus that was announced on Monday. Fain says the coalition's principles include promoting job growth, creating a sustainable budget, providing a world-class education system and holding state government accountable.
