Pacific City Council special meeting set for 4 p.m. Monday

The Pacific City Council will meet at 4 p.m. Monday to vote on a resolution to pay in full for the City's new insurance policy.
The council approved a resolution this past Wednesday to accept an offer for new insurance.
The City's new policy – which will provide $5 million in liability coverage at an increased premium – will allow the City to continue to operate in 2013.
The cancellation of Pacific's old insurance policy with the Cities Insurance Association of Washington(CIAW) – which provided $10 million in coverage – threw the City into turmoil, with the possibilities of dissolving Pacific or annexing into Auburn being considered by the council.
Both of those options have been postponed indefinitely.
The CIAW cancelled Pacific's coverage effective Jan. 31 because of personnel instability in department head positions at city hall.
Since controversial Mayor Cy Sun took office this past January, all of the City's department heads have either resigned or been fired by Sun.
Although several of those positions have been filled, including city clerk and public safety direction, many are still vacant.
Pacific is facing almost $10 million in claims filed by former employees.
The meeting is open to the public.
