January 3, 2013 · 1:36 PM
U.S. Congressman Dave Reichert (WA, District 8) was sworn in as a member of the 113th Congress on Thursday. He is serving his fifth term as the representative from the Eighth Congressional District of Washington.
Reichert released the following statement today, shortly after being sworn in:
"Today I renew my oath of office to serve the people of Washington's new 8th District in the 113th Congress," said Reichert, of Auburn. "While the district boundaries have changed, my commitment to those I represent has not. I am honored to represent this beautiful and diverse district crossing the Cascade Mountains, spanning from Mount Rainier to Lake Chelan.
"There are many challenges that lie ahead in the 113th Congress. We cannot let partisan politics get in the way of ideas and legislation that will put our country back on the path to prosperity. I will continue to work in a bipartisan way to find common sense solutions so we can put Americans back to work and get our nation's fiscal house in order."
