Auburn police and other officers joined forces in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign for Special Olympics as the relay passed through city streets on Friday.

Auburn Commander Mike Hirman escorted the torch from the Idaho state line and continued with its destination at McChord Air Force Base in Lakewood, where the Special Olympics’ opening ceremonies were held Friday. The games were held at Fort Lewis on Saturday and Sunday.

Nearly a dozen Auburn Police Department employees picked up the torch from Kent police on Friday at 277th and Auburn Way North. The torch ran south to Main Street, west on Main to City Hall where Auburn police employees made a brief stop at City Hall.

The run went south on A Street Southwest, east on 1st Street SW/SE and then south on A Street Southeast. Auburn police passed the torch off to Sumner police at Lake Tapps Parkway and 8th Street East.
