Update: VRFA snuffs out apartment complex fire
June 26, 2008 · Updated 1:01 PM
An alert neighbor spotted smoke coming from the detached laundry office area of an apartment complex in the 800 block of R Street Southeast early Tuesday June 24 and called 911.
Valley Regional Fire Authority firefighters arrived at 7:51 a.m. and extinguished the fire before it could spread to any apartment units. The detached laundry-office area suffered an estimated $5,000 worth of heavy smoke damage.
Investigation showed that the most likely cause of the fire was electrical, owing to a problem with the aluminum wiring.
