Auburn police blotter | July 19
Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between July 8 and 13:
Theft: 3:48 p.m., 513 A St. NE. A man left his cigarettes and cellphone on a bench in front of MultiCare Auburn Medical Center and somebody snatched them.
Vandalism: 5:48 p.m., 700 block of Auburn Way South. A man pounded on the hood of an ex-friend's car, prompting his former bud to press charges. Police booked the whacker for 3rd-degree malicious mischief.
Trespassing: 9:28 a.m., 30021 114th Way SE. Police arrested a man for trespassing inside a house that the City of Auburn had condemned and posted with a do-not-occupy order. Turns out, the guy's name was also prominently featured on a felony DOC escape warrant.
Snip and scram: 11:29 a.m., 4018 A St. SE. A man got a haircut but skipped out on the paying-for-my-coiffure part of the transaction.
Vandalism: 9 a.m., 10 block of H Street Southeast. An Auburn resident discovered that somebody had slashed one of his car's tires.
Fraud: 1:45 p.m., 31700 block of 125th Place Southeast. Someone fraudulently used a man's identity in Arizona, getting the Arizona driving status he'd never had, in a state he'd never been to, suspended.
Strong arm robbery: 4 p.m., 801 Auburn Way N. A guy trying to steal more than $200 in merchandise from Fred Meyer swung a 6-pack of beer at an employee's head before dropping the goods and running off.
Theft: 4:20 p.m., 3611 I St. NE. A woman generously allowed a stranger inside her apartment to use the potty, and her purse left with that stranger.
Theft: 7:25 p.m., 2900 block of 22nd St. SE. Somebody stole a children-at-play sign.
Animal problem: 8 p.m., 31116 122nd Lane SE. Somebody found a small black-and-white dog without a collar or tags then turned the wandering pooch over to the Auburn Police Department for safekeeping until its owner could be located.
Theft: 12:30 a.m., 12600 Southeast 295th Street. A man left his vehicle unlocked with $8,000 in cash inside, and somebody stole the money.
CPS referral: 7:13 a.m., 900 block of 67th Street Southeast. Police returned a lost, 2-year-old boy to his grandparent.
Vandalism: 9:30 a.m., 801 Auburn Way N. Police arrested two boys caught spray painting the south side of the Fred Meyer store.
Trespassing: 1:15 p.m., 1101 Auburn Way S. Despite being warned not to do so, two boys returned to the Auburn Library and got themselves arrested for trespassing. Police returned the boys to their homes, releasing them to adult family members.
