Pacific appoints Gould as new finance director
The Pacific City Council voted unanimously at its regular Monday meeting to appoint Richard Gould as the City's new finance director.
Since August Gould has served as Pacific's interim-finance director, helping to untangle the City's finances, which the previous administration had left in disarray.
Gould, with help from City staff, recently completed financial reports for the 2012 fiscal year and the third quarter reports for 2013.
In addition, Gould and his staff are preparing the City's biennial budget for 2014-2015.
"He's done an amazing job digging us out of the hole we were in, and he seems well qualified, with a good vision for the development of the department," said Councilmember Josh Putnam. "I'm confident he's going to do a good job for us."
Previously, Gould was the finance director for the City of Carnation and filled in for a time as its interim city manager. Gould also worked for the City of Snohomish as an accounting supervisor.
He has a bachelor's degree in management from City of University Seattle and took business courses at the University of Washington.
"After bringing him in as a temporary and having him help with our financial struggles, he just dug in and started making sense of things and helped move things forward," Mayor Leanne Guier said. "The conversations we have had about the vision of the City and moving forward and the way he works with staff, I just think he's a perfect fit for the City."
