Train derailment Monday between Kent, Auburn cancels southline Sounder service

All southline Sounder service between Lakewood in Pierce County and Seattle is canceled for Monday morning because of a derailed freight train between Auburn and Kent.

Sound Transit is encouraging riders to take bus service to their destination or arrange for alternative transportation. The agency will have updates as the day progresses.

A spokesman for BNSF Railway wasn't immediately available for comment, but the Associated Press is reporting that equipment was being brought in Monday to remove the derailed cars.

The derailment occurred at about 1 a.m.
