Firefighters douse occupied basement fire in Auburn

Valley Regional Fire Authority firefighters quickly extinguished a basement fire at an Auburn home on Sunday.

At 12:30 p.m. the VRFA responded to a report of smoke inside the residence in the 2900 block of D Street Southeast. Firefighters arrived and found a single-family residential home with smoke showing from the basement of the home. Firefighters quickly made entry into the basement area, extinguishing the fire and confirming the structure was evacuated.

There were no injuries to firefighters or residents.

Fire investigators are determining the fire's cause and origin.
